Waiting For The Right Time To End Overeating?

Sorry, there's really no such thing... the belief in perfect-timing is one more little trap of your perfectionistic mind keeping you stuck.
 

Save yourself and get real, it's so much easier in the long run, trust me on this.

The right time is created by us. It means that we are going to clear the decks to make room for what is most meaningful for us. It means we are going to stop neglecting ourselves in the name of trying to Manage The Cosmos. Seriously.

There is no right time. There is only focused slow and steady consistent action. There is only self-care and daily rituals and getting some support.

Your decision to act, makes it the right time. It's an inside timing issue- stop looking at what else is going on and trust that what you truly need deserves your time and attention- and often some investment of money.

 

I want you to know that you can stop your suffering, right now if you choose. There is no right time, there is only now.

No matter what else is going on, if your eating is out of control and you are making yourself crazy with all-or-nothing perfectionism, you can feel better.

Making Friends With Compulsion (may as well...)

One thing I have learned that honestly helps with compulsive eating or any form of out-of-whack eating is this- You must learn to love and embrace your compulsive nature and put it to work for you- in ways that make you feel better every single day.

 

I know from experience as a mentor for thousands of women wanting to change the way they treat their bodies, that making friends with compulsion provides a solid platform for everything good that you want to create.

My clients and I have always agreed- there is definitely an obsessive-compulsive nature tied into the overeating or binge-eating issues.

The way it works is that instead of getting hit with painful thoughts and feelings, you spend a lot of time thinking about eating or not eating. These thoughts take up a lot of space, until you finally succumb to the desire for relief, and eat. There is the obsession (thoughts) and the compulsion (action).

Because this may be a part of your/my brain chemistry or just an acquired coping style, it's best to make it work for you, right?

That's where my Daily Essentials come in.

I encourage all of my clients to create a daily routine of Daily Essentials that helps them connect to a sense of power, lightness, connection to their inner wisdom and Spirit, and to their own Divine Identity. In other words to create a routine for daily use that starts each day off by anchoring you in a cloud of positive feel-good energies.

My own compusive, guaranteed to start me off happy consists of these elements:

Morning prayer and gratitude

Healthy breakfast

Inspirational Reading for a few minutes or longer

A Break-A-Sweat workout

20-minutes of sauna with meditation

I do some variation of all of the above every day- the days I am unable to or somehow let something else get in the way (business deadlines, early phone calls), I am basically screwed. At a big disadvantage- I can't get my groove on in the same way and I suffer for it.

At the very least, a prayer and a workout and breakfast can get me results but the whole routine works better. I do other little compulsive things too- like record my exercise on a big daily calendar- what I did, and how long I did it (have probaby 20 yrs of these records someplace- i love the sense of achievement and consistency, and wellness, a lot!)/

The more you can make friends with your own compulsive nature, the happier and healthier you will be. See how you might adapt some of these suggestions for yourself and let me know what you tried and what worked.

Setting The Energy: Healing Overeating

There is an optimal energy for healing overeating, binge-eating, or weight loss.

You may have already noticed that the more you berate yourself, threaten yourself, or tap into that sense of "not good enough" energy, the more food you need to comfort yourself. In other words, you already know exactly what doesn't work!

What does work? Love love love. You truly must learn to love yourself through it. The trick is to be able to surf each little moment of self-hate or not-good-enough thinking and neutralize each of these to bring you back to love. From love you can take the small daily actions that deliver you to your goals.

Change comes from love, patience, and stepping out of black and white, all or nothing perfectionism. It's about moving forward anyways. Doing the "next right thing", no matter what you did 5 minutes ago or yesterday.

Let it go. Release the energy of pain that lives inside of you. Remember who you truly are- the embodiment of the Divine in a physical body.

Let the energy of the Divine move through you AS YOU. THe natural order of the Universe is about More Life For All, Less to None.

We are drawn towards growth and expansion and expression, unless we continually dampen ourselves down with shame, regret, impossible standards.

Spring is coming. It's all about growth, and expansion and more life. Breathe it in. Call it to you. Pray for Grace and healing. It is part of your Divine Inheritance.
